The Executive Chairman Efon Local Government, Engr. Adetunji Olabode Stephen rejoices with Christians in the town and has called for prayers as the world celebrates this year’s Easter. The Easter which is usually celebrated by Christians all over the world to mark the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, this year, will be celebrated in conservative manners due to the COVID-19 pandemic rocking the world.
The Chairman, in a statement made available by his media team, felicitated with Christians and the good people of Efon Alaaye. He urged the people to use this festive period to pray for Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State and Nigeria against the spread of the pandemic. He also employed the good people of the town to observe this year’s Easter activities in unadventurous manners due to the current situation in the country.
Adetunji also reiterated the need to constantly carry out the preventive measures of the deadly COVID-19 to curb the spread of the virus which includes washing of hands under a running water, social distancing, using of hand sanitizers, avoiding handshakes and crowded places. He urged the people of Efon to obey the Stay- At-Home order of His Excellency, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State to help reduce the impact of COVID-19.
He assured the people of Efon that government assistance in cash and kind will continue to trickle in, in order to cushion the effects of the Coronavirus disease. “We should all emulate the sacrificial life of Jesus Christ and be law abiding citizens as there is no better time to pray for Nigeria and the world than now”, he added.
