Chieme Martins of Nassarawa United has reportedly died after a collision with a Katsina United player in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match.
The player who slumped on the pitch was unable to get immediate Medical attention as the ambulance at the Stadium reportedly refused to start.
Efforts to revive him by the medics at the stadium failed and he was subsequently rushed to the hospital in a press crew vehicle but it proved unhelpful as he died on arrival at the hospital.
His teammates where seen in a video crying on the pitch after he passed.
Nigerians have taken to Social Media to mourn his death with many blaming the lack of readiness for emergencies for his death.
